I grew up knowing him, since I was a baby. He and my dad did the One Lap Of America in 1999 (Along with Peter Mckay, who I met a pretty long time ago and barely remember). He hung around near Lime Rock Park until fairly recently (we would go to the track with him pretty often), when he moved back to Australia. I can still remember him having the most crazy cars, typically ridiculous imports that I had never seen before. One of my favorites was a Subaru Legacy he brought. I'm not sure if it was a B4 or just an overseas version, but it was one of the coolest Subies I had ever seen at the age of 7 or 8.

Anyways, you can check out his website !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! , see some of his ridiculous rally footage (This is a Hillclimb up Mt. Washington) !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! , and see some of last year's Pikes Peak footage !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! , in a ridiculous little VTEC-powered animal called a Skelta.

If you youtube his name, there's a ton more awesome drives. He's a really cool guy, and a great driver.

I'm basically just posting here to try to capture the "WHAT." Moment I had when someone I knew popped up in the middle of an MCM video unexpectedly. So without futher ado, here's the MCM video, ft. TurboMiata.

That is awesome, I loved how interested and informative the guy was the whole drive. Seemed to have a genuine interest in racing and a real drive to help other people interested in his passion. Great video.

So THAT's where Denmeade ended up.

I met him in the early 2000's, when he was in the states and dabbling with SCCA Pro Rally, hill climbing, and mainly importing JDM Evos (the good ones, before they started selling them here). I actually met with him at the Ascutney Mountain Hillclimb and talked to him about co-driving at one of the SCCA Pro Rallies back in (I want to say Ojibwe. I sort of remember trying to figure out how I was going to get to Minnesota). The deal fell through, I started working at Skip Barber and my co-driving career sort of petered out.

This is CRAZY. I just watched this video today and recognized him as well. Back around 2005, I think I almost bought the Legacy you speak of when he was living in Farmington. Wagon? Forest green? It was the twin-turbo RFRB model, if I'm not mistaken, and I was one day too late in calling him back. Someone else scooped it up first, as well as his last Evo and Celica. To this day, I have never forgiven myself. Small world, eh?

Wild.

Don't remember the Legacy as I was pretty young, but definitely remember the Evo and the Celica.

Word on the street is he might be joining us in the US again soon. Which means we'll be seeing some more of this.
